A study mentioned in the 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth states, HONESTY is the top trait universally valued by people. Good to know and not a real surprise! As we are leading ourselves and leading others we are always honest, right? But how many times have you seen this and maybe it even happened to you: a stretch of the truth, a white lie, a version of truth, can hurt people and is not the truth. Of course, we have to stay away from any variance that is untrue and stay above board in all things.
The good news is our inside development is totally within our control. We will each face character choices determining not only our own growth but the value we can add to people. The right choices allow us to help people and not hurt them! Plus, the growth within ourselves is priceless.
In a recent Leading at the Next Level lesson, I (Cindy) shared the Law of Solid Ground which says, trust is the foundation of leadership. This particular lesson delved into What the...
I remember learning the Law of Design which says, to maximize growth, develop strategies. What a relief… I had strategies! At the time, I had a system that allowed me to get two young children up each morning, safely delivered to school or childcare, as a single Mom and even get some form of exercise before they woke. Granted, this was on days when no one was sick, had a bad night, or mornings when I faced a child who was attempting to be in charge of the house… and everything else for that matter.
Life felt more like survival than a sense of thriving but at least I had a system, right?! I didn’t say it was always pretty but it was always attempted and helped us have structure even on the tough days. It wasn’t until I delegated responsibility to my children that we were able to create good habits and have a smoother transition each morning, not to mention more fun together!
The truth is…we all have a system. ...
Consider the need and value of passion in our lives. Without passion we would simply be trudging along kind of numb and with no excitement. That means today, there would be nothing we are excited about. And nothing we’re excited about tomorrow, or next week. Rather than drifting along allowing passion to pass us by, we need to bring more passion into our lives by simply choosing to think about what we want in our future.
Passion is a thought process you can choose at any time. If you don’t believe me (Cindy) just think about your next trip to the beach, the fun you have with your best friend, or the way your dog greets you when you arrive home. If none of these work for you, how about that cup of coffee you’re going to enjoy in the morning? I’m really passionate about my morning coffee!
I like the definition of passion offered by Merriam-Webster which states; a strong feeling of excitement or enthusiasm for...
In the 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth, John Maxwell presents Laws of Growth with the Live It, Learn It, Lead It mindset challenging us to Live It but genuinely living out the law we are growing in. This challenges us to be the change. Learn It is simply taking in the right information. However, many people learn but never improve themselves or find a fulfilling path in life which leads to their purpose because they learn but do not grow. In other words, they do not apply, stretch, and put in the work to grow themselves which is the answer to all other fulfillment.
For example, we can read about the Law of Intentionality but if we do not apply it we don’t grow!
In one of our (Cindy) study groups, we are currently learning more about the Law of Awareness which says, to know yourself you must grow yourself. We started with questions like the ones below to help us know ourselves better and these will work for you too. As you think about who you...
