3 Main Things That Keep You From Your Goals And Dreams – Even In A Pandemic!

A New Year is coming and with it, a new beginning, a fresh start, and a renewed opportunity to refresh your goals and dreams, and what you aspire to be, do and have. Rather than inundating you with a list of power phrases to motivate you (because those are everywhere right now), I'll take this opportunity to share three things that will ABSOLUTELY keep you from obtaining your dreams and goals. These are sneaky…they’re easy to let slip into your daily life and can be hard to overcome. Conquer these and reap the benefits a reached dream and a goal obtained will give you and those who count on you.

 1. Settling for Comfort Over Potential

Reaching our goals and dreams requires growth.

And, growth is outside of our comfort zone. Every time we chose to stay in our comfort zone, we not only lose the opportunity to grow we lose the self-confidence we would have gained by that growth. And more importantly; we can lose confidence and damage our self-image knowing we are choosing a mode of self-preservation rather than having a growth mindset. If we desire to be, do, and have more, we have to change but it’s how we think about this change that creates our success.

 2. Ignoring the Law of Sacrifice

The Law of Sacrifice is very clear on how to be successful with your goals. It simply says that you cannot get something you want, without giving up something in return. In order to attain something you believe is of greater value, you must give up something you believe is of lesser value.

It’s about defining in your life what is of the highest value and what is of lower value. Then, you won’t have to ‘let go’ of those things, they will simply fall away because they are no longer in harmony with the direction of your life.

Have you ever reached a goal and looked back to realize some of the habits you had, you no longer have any more? They just FELL away. Maybe you wanted to lose weight. You started exercising in the morning and got up early to do so. Or, you gave up a favorite show to exercise in the evening. Only to realize at some point, you no longer have a desire to watch that anymore?

Or, that time isn’t important, you can watch it on demand? Make the sacrifice to move toward your dreams and see what falls away that you no longer desire!

 3. Neglecting to DESIGN your Life

This is about living your life with Intentional Action rather than drifting through. I’m currently re-reading Napoleon Hill’s Outwitting the Devil.  I’ve read this book many times and try to fit it on my book list every year. It’s that good! The main idea is to make every decision and live every day with an intentional purpose OR reap the consequences of drifting through life. The times in Napoleon’s life when he allowed himself to drift without purpose were the times he believes the evil one was using against him in obtaining the true purpose of his life. And he had this realization in an interview that changed him. I won’t go any further but most of us know the story of Napoleon Hill’s life and the positive changes he brought to our country and the lives of many. Comfort zones can feel like the best place to be but can rob us of our destiny! To keep this in front of me, I put this quote on my vision board every year! “You either design your life or live it on default.” – Paul Martinelli  Such truth!

You won’t realize large dreams with a small commitment. The great news is if you’re already committed to doing the work, you’re on the right path…keep going. If not, you can start today! One more quote I’ve (Cindy) found to be absolute truth and was shared by my speaking mentor Roddy Galbraith, "All your goals can be reached through personal growth." Make every day a day of personal and professional growth then look back on occasion and see how far you have come.  Our resources are here to support you on your journey!
